The Huts at Woodsthorpe, Sudbury Airbnb Photography
When you’re competing for bookings on Airbnb, Booking.com and your own website, great photography isn’t a luxury — it’s one of the most important marketing tools you have.
In 2026, we were asked to photograph The Huts at Woodsthorpe, a collection of three beautifully designed shepherd huts situated on the edge of a working farm and equestrian centre near Sudbury, Suffolk.
The project was a great example of how we approach Airbnb photography: understand the property, understand the owner’s marketing objectives, plan the shoot carefully and create a collection of images that genuinely sells the experience of staying there.
Three shepherd huts. Three very different experiences.
The Huts at Woodsthorpe comprises three individual shepherd huts — Willow, Jupiter and Hazel — each with its own personality and interior design.
Rather than creating three properties that look the same, the owners have given each hut its own distinctive character, making them appealing to different types of guests looking for a stylish and relaxing escape from everyday life.
Two of the huts feature private jacuzzis, while another has an outdoor copper bath, creating a particularly memorable place to relax and unwind in complete privacy.
Surrounded by countryside, paddocks, woodland and the wider farm environment, the setting is every bit as important as the huts themselves.
A photography refresh for 2026
The owners approached us because they wanted to refresh the photography on their website and create new marketing material for the 2026 season.
We discussed what they needed from the shoot rather than simply turning up and taking a series of photographs.
The aim was to produce a comprehensive collection of images that could be used across their website, Airbnb listings, social media and other marketing activity.
We also wanted to show potential guests more of the overall experience — not just photographs of beds, kitchens and bathrooms.
That meant photographing the interiors, exterior spaces, individual features and the surrounding environment.
For the first time at the property, we also introduced drone photography to provide a different perspective and demonstrate the setting of the huts within the surrounding countryside.
Planning the drone photography
Drone photography sounds straightforward until you look carefully at the environment.
Two of the huts have low-level power lines running above the property. These are traditional telegraph-pole-style lines, sitting at approximately 30 feet above ground level.
Obviously, they presented a significant consideration for drone operations.
We carried out our normal risk assessment and carefully planned where the drone could safely operate, selecting flight positions that allowed us to capture the property and its surroundings without putting the aircraft anywhere near the overhead cables.
Safety always comes first.
The result was a series of aerial photographs that added something genuinely different to the property’s marketing rather than simply flying a drone because one was available.
Sometimes the weather gets in the way
Like many property photography projects, this one didn’t go entirely according to plan.
The original schedule was affected by exceptionally wet weather during the early spring. The site became heavily waterlogged, which also delayed the builders completing the third shepherd hut.
The project was eventually pushed back by around eight weeks.
While delays are frustrating for any business preparing for a new season, the wait proved worthwhile.
By the time we were able to photograph the finished property, everything was ready for the owners’ 2026 summer season and the three huts could be photographed together.
One visit. Three properties. Loads of images.
Rather than photographing each hut on separate visits, we planned the project so that all three properties could be photographed during a single shoot.
This was more efficient for the owners and helped reduce the overall cost by avoiding three separate photography sessions and the associated travel expenses.
We photographed the interiors and exteriors of all three huts, together with the grounds and wider setting.
In the end, we supplied loads of professionally edited images.
We also worked with the owners’ existing furnishings and accessories to style the properties naturally.
For holiday accommodation photography, we believe this is important.
There is a temptation to over-style accommodation photographs to make them look as luxurious as possible. But if guests arrive to find something significantly different from the photographs, you’ve created the wrong kind of expectation.
Our approach is to make the property look as good as it genuinely is, while ensuring that the photographs remain an honest representation of what guests can expect.
Fortunately, The Huts at Woodsthorpe made this particularly easy.
The interiors are beautifully designed and filled with attractive furniture, crockery, accessories and finishing touches that already photograph exceptionally well.
Fast turnaround when you need your marketing ready
The owners needed the new photography available quickly so they could use it across their marketing for the 2026 season.
We completed the editing and supplied the finished collection in approximately five working days.
That meant the new photographs could quickly be incorporated into their website, accommodation listings and social media campaigns.
For holiday accommodation owners, turnaround can be just as important as the photography itself. A property that’s ready to market needs its marketing material ready too.
Photography that sells the experience
Good Airbnb photography shouldn’t simply document a property.
It should make someone imagine themselves there.
For The Huts at Woodsthorpe, that meant showing the character of each hut, the quality of the interiors, the private outdoor spaces and the beautiful countryside surrounding them.
It’s the difference between showing somebody a shepherd hut and showing them where they could spend their weekend.
The Huts at Woodsthorpe are now available to book through their accommodation listings, offering guests the opportunity to escape to a beautiful rural setting close to Sudbury.
