Sometimes there’s no alternative to using photoshop. Not for making a celebrity look pretty or removing that incriminating evidence but to restore and rejuvenate a loved picture.
A few weeks ago we got handed a 70 years old photo, which was much loved but unfortunately little damaged. It had been folded into quarters to fit into a wallet and carried around for many years.
This would until recently be the end of the story, damaged but just visible but not to return from that state.
This is where many years of photoshop use come into their own. After scanning the picture to get it into the software we manually edit each part of the picture, manually editing each element and restoring the areas missing. It’s not as good as the original, it never could be as the information is lost forever, but we can do our best to restore the image, as best as possible.
It takes a lot of care an dedication to remaster a photo back from this level damaged but it’s possible and I hope you agree is a pretty good result from where the original started.
